Communication

I just finished reading a Handbook called Be Social by Matt McKee. It eludes to the fact that churches need to be social and engaged in the social media arenas. My current title at Canopy Roads  is Families and Media Pastor. The Families thing comes pretty easy but the Media side is so diverse. Perhaps it is so difficult because people consume media in so many different ways. The task of sending emails  to one group, tweeting to another, SMS'ing, another, and updating Facebook can be overwhelming especially when people still miss whats going on. I miss the days when simply putting something in the church bulletin would suffice as adequate communication.

Communication for a church is incredibly important because the message the church communicates is paramount. A churches message is not just a social gathering announcement, it is that God love the world so much that he sent his Son to earth, to serve as a sacrifice so that people could experience Heaven and not Hell!

It is as a result of reading that handbook that I will begin to post my thoughts here about things as often as I am able. My thoughts are not special but I hope that they, in some way, can assist someone as they pursue an intimate relationship with our Lord and Savior.

Perhaps today you can evaluate how you are living your life. The most important thing we can do with our lives is allow God to be our Lord, but what does that look like in your life. What are you communicating with the things you do everyday? Do your actions say that God is the Lord of your life or you are the lord of your life? I am humbled and encouraged by reading Romans 2: 6-8 which says:

6 He will render to each one according to his works: 7 to those who by patience in well-doing seek for glory and honor and immortality, he will give eternal life; 8 but for those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, there will be wrath and fury. (ESV)

What do your works communicate about what is important to you? Maybe today we should all evaluate our works and see what each of us communicating about what is important in our lives. Communicating effectively is as simple as being led by the Holy Spirit to do things that honoring to God. When you do, people will know who your Lord is.
