Who I am is such a powerful question. It affects what you wear, where you live, what you do, who you associate with, and what you worship. Not knowing the answer the answer can leave a person in limbo, and drive them to go from one thing to the next searching for answers.
We see in the Genesis 1: 26-27 that God wants us to know who we are. The first elements of creation are impersonal. God said “let there be” and there was light, animals, weather, etc. With Humanity it is different, he says, “let us make.” There ins an intentionality with humans that can not be found in the other elements of creation. Likewise with the other elements of creation God did not specifically mention Gender, but with humanity he intentionally crafted each gender. We also see that humanity was given dominance over all of creation. Humanity is not on an equal plane with a deer or dog, and certainty not below like some today teach. We are to have dominance over the created things of this world. Finally we see that the other elements of creation were made according its kind. Cats were made the way cats were supposed to be made. However was created in the image of God. We were made special, and unique. It should empower everyone to know that no matter who difficult or stressful their life is that they were made in the image of the savior!
Today we all need to be intentional about coming to grips with our identity. We need to transition from living in such a way that we have to ask who am I and be able to say with confidence this is Who I Am. Because if I know “Who I Am" it will be easier for you and me to communicate Who He is!
